Malakoff or Bienakoff? Nice
destruction by arson of the shopping center of Malakoff has created a new load of comments agreed that "inner city". Disadvantaged? Malakoff, said the website Hall, was built "away from the city, between the Loire and tracks, separated from the canal Saint-Felix in a neighborhood fallow" .
Yet not everyone agrees: Malakoff, perform other, is a neighborhood "ideally located between the Loire and the neighborhood train station."

Pnemonia Time Off Work
16.02.11 - Portobelo Isla Grande (N 09 36.81 W 079 34.79)
Today, after a stormy night a bit, we decided to sail towards Isla Grande Portobelo 12 miles. A 12 000 that we will do in 3 hours and deserve a lot of frustration. San Blas is the desire to leave, or we're really not due to go.
We almost caught a big fish - it was released just in time. Otherwise, nothing to report, it was pocket wind in your face, big wave. The only good news, small Milla had nothing like "symptom" of seasickness
arriving, the girls decided to strip naked and jump into the water, CJ followed not long after the time of thread its new high-tech fins that allow it to go 4 times faster! Phew! Guys, it never goes fast enough!
Fred and Cindy came swimming behind Shaka and JC came back from his walk under water, saying he had seen lots of lion fish. The girls lost their friends, the gang is part of fisherman!
Shaka turned into a beauty salon and the girls were treated to a manicure and pedicure.
Less than an hour after departure, the gang returns to the schedule - either there were no fish, or there was really a lot. Wrong answer - Fred hurt his foot after a lion fish! There's nothing really to do, but he said girls that it hurt to "bar" and that he would get a little tequila on it. The only remedy is to put really hot water (I do not know at what temperature, but warmer than the kind you can tolerate). Otherwise, nothing! Hopefully it never happens to girls! We listened
Shrek Forever with the girls at supper - they were punctured and so do we! We still eat a little ceviche input!

Little Growths Inside My Mouth
15.02.11 - 14.02.11
Today, after school, we decided to visit all the forts that were here in Portobelo. Portobelo is a lovely little bay where the English had to hide to avoid being robbed of their treasures by hackers. They built several forts were built on different floors. The best we've visited, and which begins to be restored, is on 3 floors. If the army managed to climb without being spotted, she deserves to win the battle!
We were pleased to learn that money is injected to restore the forts. We learned that 30 years ago, the jungle covering the strong. They started by clearing everything, then see how to keep everything in good condition.
JC spent the evening to repair a bad contact in the wiring of the batteries. Our batteries discharged at a rate somewhat surprising. Can not go on like this. At first we thought it was because of the freezer, but over the days we have realized that it was more than that. The problem seems to be solved! Yay!

How To Materbate Home Alone
Portobelo - Portobelo
Happy Birthday to the youngest cousins Pronovost! Oliver, the "little" last to be 10 years! The
wakes up very early this morning as JC from Panama City. It will complete the purchases to install the antenna on SSB. You know when you talk directly to the guy and tell him: "That's what I have, that's what I want ... I want to order everything that goes in between. I wish I could install everything when I get the antenna that I lack nothing. " You guessed it ... missing Cossins 3-4. Easy ways to find in Canada, but here ... it's a different story.
Before departure, JC has made the annex to the water and installed the driver for Isa and girls can go downtown. Only about 9 am, when Miller started writing the date Isa has achieved ...
GOOD VALENTINE!
While we do not really celebrate that, it's important for girls to make any occasion a celebration, so we always try to mark special occasions. Dressed in pink and red, they have school and after dinner, we made crafts for JC. The girls were really edgy!
We even made a project "We invite the crew to take Kelp Fiction dessert with us." We cooked a good pudding unemployed, the favorite dessert of JC. Then, as the vessel cooled down, we went into town looking for ice cream. The rain soon to catch up, but Isa turned it into play and the goal of reaching the boat without getting wet was a great success!
JC and crew Kelp Fiction came too late for dessert, we will resume again. But JC was very happy with the tinkering of girls and he tempted by the pudding!

Bottom up or down?
I thought it would be good to do a post about these two approaches. I set as the French versions of Top-Down expressions (down) and Bottom-Up (up), but I'd rather use English phrases as most Francophones use also use them in English.
Let's start by explaining the difference between top-down and bottom-up. An investor who calls himself top-down investments in equity securities based on its analysis and its general macroeconomic outlook for various sectors. For example, an investor who refuses to invest in European banks because it feared the adverse effects of debt problems rulers of several European countries made a top-down analysis of the situation.
Conversely, an investor who focuses solely on corporate earnings, regardless of the overall situation surrounding the sector or the economy is said to be bottom-up. Thus, he who refuses to invest in European banks because they have high leverage, low profitability and are facing increased competition from foreign banks made a bottom-up analysis.
The big question remains to know which approach is preferable. This is a difficult question to answer because both approaches have elements positive. Moreover, few investors have an approach that can be called 100% top-down or bottom-up 100%. I think the best would effectively combine the two. Here's why:
1) The top-down approach to understanding what are the areas that we should expose. If we believe the economy will recover and that U.S. consumption will leave a great champion, then we would be exposed to cyclical sectors. Conversely, if we see major problems ahead, he would rather opt for the so-called defensive sectors.
2) Once selected sectoral exposure, a bottom-up analysis will select best companies that will allow us to position our portfolio to address the objectives of paragraph 1.
Why not just go for a top-down approach? Because according to this approach, once you've determined the sectors that it is better to expose the companies to buy does not matter. Naturally, the investor will not buy top-down business largely overstated, but the analysis at the enterprise level will not be pushed too. A top-down investor who believes that the Canadian banking sector is a must in any portfolio could well buy the Royal Bank, TD Bank, BMO and CIBC.
Why not go approach purely bottom-up? Because according to this approach, simply find the value in a company to establish a position, no matter how macroeconomic conditions. The bottom-up investor might well find much value in the titles of European banks, Canadian banks, American banks and Asian banks. Since this investor has no top-down analysis to determine the target weight for each industry, it could be 80% of its portfolio in the banking industry.
investor using the two methods will first banks that some regions are overweight in the portfolio, but some areas are avoided. After analysis of each bank, it could, for example, initiating positions in a Canadian bank, one American and one Asian.
For my part, I make a short top-down analysis to see how I would position myself and then my bottom-up analysis tells me to take the securities in which positions to meet my goal top-down. And you?

13.02.11 - 12.02.11
We decided to resume classes today puisqu'inévitablement we leave during the week and the girls will receive another day off.
During lessons, JC changed the mainsail halyard (the rope that allows the mainsail to climb to the top of the mast). We badly need to change it and it was part of our purchases last week.
After dinner, as it was raining, we listened to a little episode of Planet Earth with the girls while we gathered water (10 gallons total!). Once the sun has pointed the nose, we headed into town.
Disappointment! The city is dirty like hell. Yet, our first point is: Potential ... but it is dirty. Hang around garbage cans, garbage lining every street corner, etc.. Too bad!
After an hour, we're tired and retrace route to the boat ahead of us quietly into the bay, it is all clean!
Girls: For some time, we feel that our little Estralita Milla has aged. She grew up yes, but also aged in character. Those who know
Milla know it all personality. She loves being the center of attention and can say anything to be. For example, at age 3, she came into our room at 3am and told us: Do I sleep with you, I'm wake bladder ... and began to cry. This is the only child of 3 years that I know capable of treading the bladder.
short, Milla begins to emerge from this phase and become a big girl. A big congratulations to her because we know that is not always easy to be reasonable to 5 years.

Portobelo - Portobelo Colon Anchorage (N 09 W 079 33 476 39,778)
We're waking up the radio to 9.30! Alexe, of course, was awake, but the rest of the gang slept very hard!
We breakfasted, weighed anchor and headed towards Portobelo - a small bay which brings us closer than 20 miles from San Blas. We had the wind on the nose all along, but with a combination of sailing and motor, we managed to keep my focus and not get too late in the afternoon. The captain was not pleased at the idea of advancing motor, but with a current against us and more, the choice was not difficult. Since all the
world is in great shape, we go fishing line! Once JC bar line, poof! That bites! The girls are super edgy! We bring on board a good mackerel, enough for dinner! Alex wants to see everything, how do you know the "sleep", empty, making nets. She is Madame "hands-on", she wants to know why something does something and especially how it works! You should see her when jC plays in the engine!
Portobelo is a beautiful little bay, relatively well protected where there are several boats. We found people we had to cross San Andre and Quebec. After a quick 5 @ 7 on Kelp Fiction, we returned to our beautiful boat eating freshly caught mackerel!
Girls: Alex has always had his nose in books. When she was younger, she would spend hours watching the images. Today, she reads. She reads books for children, but for some time, she reads books more "hard core".
We bought the complete series for children by Roald Dahl 6 months ago and told us that eventually, she could read them (there is also an adult who is more than awesome). Until two months ago, she had no not even affected - fewer images, font size smaller, more pages to read ... But one morning as we breakfasted, she begins to talk about the characters in The Twits - sure enough, she had read half! Quickly, she tackled the rest of the series. The only one left was James and the Giant Peach - a book of 120 pages it started yesterday.
Congratulations to Alex!

After school, Isa and Cindy decide to go into town to buy supplies last - fruits and vegetables. And since our
new freezer is working, why not freeze more meat!
Since a cruise ship to dock, the taxi driver tried to charge us $ 4 per person!
When girls explained to him that they are in Panama for nearly a year and they are definitely not on a cruise ship ... they are charging the $ 1.25 traditional.
In return, everyone ends up at the park and the girls play with other children. There are a few French crews, but our girls go to local children. We love to see them grow with other children.
Since we leave tomorrow and leave it tomorrow we enlignons a movie night and cleaning the boat!
Girls like to have their little iPod to listen to the movie of their choice. Santa good idea!

Colon Anchorage - Anchorage Colon
"Oops! We forgot to buy that! "
" Will you bought it? "
We must return to the store! Nothing dramatic, but a lighter more in case, pita and Lebanese to the grocery store for dinner tonight for that matter!
After school, we head towards the store. We drive more tourist and take the time entering the shops. We meet Fred and Cindy and stop for a drink with them.
In return, the girls enjoy the small park in front of us with the anchor. There are internet for parents and friends to children. All nearby boats meet at the end of the day so that children enjoy themselves.
We go to bed early, after playing a game of cards and that girls have listened to a movie.
Girls: We have never been pro-television. When we lived in Montreal, we did not even have television. That does not mean we do not listen to television, it just means that we select what we hear when we listen and we skip all the trailers. We follow our television series - Weeds, House, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Bullshit, CSI, etc.. but at our own pace.
Girls rarely watched television. Parcontre, they listen to Pixar films, Walt Disney, etc.. and they still have a fairly comprehensive directory. However, the movies, only at night, occasionally or when it rains and they did well in school.
Lately, they repeat the words in the movies! It's dying! When the context lends itself (which proves they understand what they say), Milla will tell us an "I'm soooo clever" or we will shout a Alexe "That's what I'm talking about Sweet Mama!" . One has the impression of living in a Pixar movie! But the funny thing is when Alex asks us what it means, "Oh ... Somebody go get my nuts! "

Hot Flaming Cheetos Cause
9.02.11 - 8.02.11
We woke up this morning only to see two huge cruise ships pass within 150 feet of Shaka! Phew! This is awesome!
We start school after a short break of one week. The girls find it difficult, but recover quickly in the beat! Meanwhile, JC participated in the exploration. It will check where we can leave our schedule, where is the grocery store, if safe, etc.. Good sign, it is less than an hour later to tell us that everything is beautiful!
not forget that Columbus is a city extremely dangerous. It is strongly recommended for local - not just for tourists - walking down the street. 17h rings and when everyone finished working, the police moved to the corners of busy streets and ensure that no incident.
You can travel by taxi anywhere in Colon for $ 1.25 - so we were in a taxi across the PM. We were at the hardware store and grocery store, then we returned to find only 6 children French boats playing at the park. JC is gone to carry the groceries while the girls played at the park.
back inside, we were surprised to see it was already 19h. A chance that supper was almost ready!

Anchorage Colon - Shelter Bay Marina Anchor Colon (N 09 W 079 21 253 53 536) Bad weather
The departure comes! What do we finalize today what can wait?
We remember a time when the marina meant relaxation, caliente ... Today, when we put our feet in a marina, we have a list. A list of things to do, to prepare for the next departure, purchase, etc.. Our mission for these three days was to get our order from Marine Warehouse and install everything that could be installed, to replenish the boat to fill our reservoirs full of water, and do our washing. Everything has been done successfully!
So today, after a final bathing, washing hair (an issue to leave with clean hair and not having to use our water for us to wash them) and a last refill, we go to a different anchor on the other side of Columbus.
We CHOSEN as the new anchor for $ 5, we can leave our dinghy in a well-protected. The grocery store is 3 minutes walk and for $ 1.25 we can go where we want to Colon by taxi.
Location = 10, Quality = 3 anchor.
Why? Because we are in the heart of the port of Colon directly where the huge cargo ships are being loaded and unloaded. The comings and goings is constant, day and night - but oh so interesting! There is always a roll, but when a cargo ship passes to 30 feet away, you forget everything and you're automatically hypnotized by the immensity of the beast!
We dined in the cockpit about power watch the boats pass. The girls have not stopped to ask us to know how many containers per ship, how fast they go these boats, how many people work on boats, etc..

One Piece Sweat Suits
We must admit that since we started 18 months ago, we have not really had a bad time.
We always preferred to wait for the weather to make long voyages.
The worst time we had was Veragas Escudo de Colon. Since then we have made two voyages - one of 21 miles, another 12 miles. Both were horrible! The wind in the nose, big swell ... every time we checkers anchor, we say that we should sell and we buy a camper. From schnoutte! BUT, we know that is transient and after we will have fun at the anchorage. Basically, when you think, for the road from Colon to Portobelo (21 miles), we have put in five hours. But then we spent 3 days. 5 hours for 3 days ...
One woman said the other day she had spent 4 years on a catamaran with his family (twins 8 years) in the South Pacific. In 4 years, they spent a total of 37 days at sea She said that whenever it was ... OK. No extras, not great, not crappy, just OK. But 37 days to spend 4 years to visit all racoins South Pacific, we would not say no.
J'pense that living on a sailboat is much more than travel by sailboat. It's do our laundry, do school, cooking - it's doing good and bad navigation. Is to accept everything. But ultimately, when you throw the anchor, you raise your eyes, you see the white sand beach and palm trees that your children are quick to jump into the water and it only remains for you that you shaker a little margarita, we found it perfect as bin lifestyle. Not always great, not always great, not always crappy, but still acceptable ben!

Surfing by Alex Bellemare
Surfing IS special. You Can sit or stand Up on the board. I love surfing, it is cool! I started by sitting on the board. Milla tried it too! Then, I stood up on the board and fell in the water. My dad tried to surf and he surfed like a Surf King! Then Freddy tried, he was so heavy that the board was in the water. My mom took picures!

Orefice, the man who surfs on figures
Nice-Matin revient aujourd'hui sur l'accusation de plagiat lancée en mars dernier par Pierre Orefice contre un éléphant visible au Carnaval de Nice 2010 :
For this noise was not "for nothing" ! By raising a controversial artificial Pierre Orefice got a nice press coverage and prompted a movement of interest for its attraction. This story was not the Clochéléphant disinterested.
Proof: The Machines of the island gained 21,671 visitors over the year 2010 (+8.3%). Now Pierre Orefice said in June 2010 a 20% increase in attendance in the first half, which, for the first six months of 2009, representing about 22,500 more visitors. That is to say that the entire increase in attendance in 2010, and even a little more, was performed on the first half. Mobilization triggered by the controversy has certainly helped.
The downside, of course, is that he will find something else this year.

« Elephantasia », le pachyderme construit par les Povigna en hommage à Hannibal, déplaît à certains Nantais. Ces derniers reprochent au mammifère d'être la copie conforme du Grand Eléphant de l'île de Nantes, inauguré en juillet 2007. Défense de plagier, mais l'histoire to unpack quickly. The desire to make noise for nothing wrong person!Making noise about nothing? That is not nice for the boss of the Machines. They had preferred to speak of here media trumpeting.

How Long Should Wood Be Clamped
Flashback - The little log Mouspépé
Voici le récit de Mouspépé (le papa à JC), qui raconte son aventure avec Shaka (fin octobre - début novembre 2010).
Le Choc Culturel et Climatique..
But above all, thrilled to find the family of Shaka: Milla, Alex, Isabelle and Jean-Charles. Completely disoriented
.. In San Jose, my sweater, very useful during the flight, is very fast too in the afternoon hot and humid .. especially that Customs had taken care to check our luggage .. specifically the 5 kg of cheese that made them salivate ... Sweats useless ... anyway, they are nice and polite''these''ticos!
Thus we call the Costa Ricans, they are friendly and jovial. Are also proud, whether rich or poor. By car as on sidewalks, it is in no hurry ... And when a storm hits us suddenly, everyone is willing to give a little space to the temporary shelter that he found that an entry of store, a porch or other makeshift shelter ..
A week passed quickly in the land of the environment ... Arenal Volcano (I enjoyed his sleep ...) when you think he could wake up suddenly at any moment ... The fall of La Fortuna ... ; I read .. before descending the 400 steps ...'' recommended for hypertensive individuals ..''. Yeah! ... we take the time needed rain ... helping ... we got away, glad to see up close! Then there are the thermal baths greatly appreciated .. especially hot for me .. and slips of girls having fun with dad who tries repeatedly .. And Mimi, who, for lack of weight was found across the slide and landed on its side, much to his chagrin! And the cherry ... a superb drink at the bar in the large heated swimming pool where bartenders prepare playful dancing and singing cocktail. An emotional moment felt good! I still remember the hours spent at the zoo as well as the afternoon at the Children's Museum in San Jose. So much to see yet ...
Since Alajuela, we must return to San Jose to take the bus that will take us to Panama. Here we are with the real world. To our delight, we are not in tourist class .. we like to mingle with the locals. We are able to see how people live, their habits, their way of life. Not being familiar with English language, the nonverbal is useful, add eyes to repeated gestures and end up not understanding.
But Isabella is never far to come to our rescue!
A marathon rally, or a sprint that began early in the morning ... to 6:00 hrs, not one but two taxis to take us to the terminal with people and luggage for San Jose .. in the morning traffic (in the capital, roads are well appointed, larger and faster .. but all the bridges have only two ways ... see the bottling ). Arrived in town, we run three blocks, bags at arms length, not to miss the bus that goes to Panama ..
The neighborhood is not safe from the guides, but in the morning, it seems, everyone is sleeping!
one sitting, so to speak ... for about seven hours before reaching the Panamanian customs ... our drivers, they are two, each forming half of the journey, we will fully awake ... winding road in the mountains, stocked trucks that double anywhere ... landslide here, then overturned truck ... nothing can stop them ...
Sixaola-Guabito International Bridge!
What a beautiful name for a bridge awful scary to cross on foot! Une heure à passer pour deux postes de douanes ! A stamp here, print there .. papers to provide for one will not reassure the country .. and buses that pass over the bridge without passengers .. Customs officers do not even watch the baggage ...
Finally arrived in Changuinola, we run into a small bus that will take us up Almirante ...
We are behind schedule, but our luck continues and we take the last taxi-boat to Bocas del Toro. This is the total! .. A large vessel more than 20 people, I do not know how ... we drive all the way into the twilight ... and it's catching every wave ... we must drive faster than 50 km ... A''grain'', (a good rain) is avoided in the turn of the Bay and arrive in Bocas del Toro ... For a last taxi-boat, calmer one, which brings us to Red Frog ... at the dock where we will Shaka! What a day!
Aboard Shaka ...
two beautiful weeks to discover life on board! At first glance, it strikes us that the small size. Then, gradually, we find the space .. every nook and cranny is used and with the passing days, Shaka grew.
moored at the marina, it's like camping, neighborhood camaraderie and good fit and the benefits of the services offered are worth the compromised access to ... the beach and good hot showers will compensate the continuing heat wave.
already a week past! We leave the marina for exploring the surrounding bays all more beautiful one another ... for me it is the initiation of marine exploration with fins and snorkel ... the reflex to rest while swimming on back to me quickly back to reality ... especially since my doctor forbade me the salt! While I open my mouth! Even more impressive is the multitude of fish around me.
I remember the whoop ... the sun is just rising, it is in a beautiful bay, a breathtaking scenery, tropical jungle ... there, on the shore shacks sometimes on land, sometimes on stilts are home to indigenous ... their alarm clock is on time ... Later we will see the children away from Shaka on makeshift boats with styrofoam containers, one with three youths on board!
Did you know? I like to steer. Taking the helm of a sailboat has always fascinated me. Like the guide boat, the rudder that responds to the slightest movement and monitor the weather vane to keep the course and not panic the sails ... And I discovered Shaka. Dashing, a small
5 knots of wind and now he bites already. Despite its sails tired, he responds to commands from the eagerly Skipper. John Charles, his hobby are the sails all the time, it adjusts the tension; takes listening, coward that one ... never forget to monitor the helm ... But nearby there is another skipper ... also present .. Isa. She did not like him to prepare both the mainsail the Genoese. You must see on a sheet or halyard, nothing can resist him .. Should not be fooled by appearances ! The two belong together and are inseparable! They are complementary.
too good and too short, we must think back .. in my head, I keep the memories ... a happy family, in harmony with the environment, and the girls, their school that's life at every moment, every day. Language, skin color are not barriers ... Alexe hear me translate in French what a salesman told me in English was charming. Milla and also live in the replica English in his native tongue! Isabelle, Bellizi is the gem ... because they are rare women who enjoy living on a sailboat and I can confirm, Isa is one of them! Jean and Charles, who last saw his dreams, is fully realized. This guy, he was not my son, I think I love it!
